Apostle Paul warned us that the real war is the spiritual battle that Satan incited. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”
( Ephesians 6:12).
We are fighting an invisible enemy. We must therefore “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (v. 11). God provides the armor but we must put them on ourselves: “loins girt about with truth, and … breastplate of righteousness” (v. 14); “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace” (v. 15); “shield of faith” ( v. 16); “… the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (v. 17). Without God’s protection, we are left vulnerable and easy prey to the “wiles of the devil.”
Our focus is learning how to listen, so let’s prepare to be listening to the correct source. The only offensive weapon you have is the “sword of the spirit”. Used properly you can fight off attacks in the flesh from enemy based thoughts in the mind. Innuendo, suggestion, false profits, false representations and many manor of trickery.
The key is for you to know Gods voice, so that the help you ask for is coming from the right source. Listening, can you see the importance of listening.
Lets look at Ben Swett ideas on listening again.
Angel means “messenger” and prophet means “spokesman” but neither of these terms necessarily refers to an angel or prophet of God. A fallen angel or a false prophet can claim to speak for God when it is not so, and this world is full of writings that claim to be the will or the way of God.
Therefore, the critical questions are always the same: “Whose messenger is this? Whose spokesman? Where did this idea come from? Who speaks for God and who does not?”
A radio receiver usually has a dial, or some kind of indicator, to show where it is tuned and which way is up (and down) the electromagnetic spectrum. Here is an analogy …
Note that the key to this spectrum is attitude toward others. Higher beings are more loving; lower beings are less loving. God is the Author of love and truth. Jesus loves all; Satan loves none. All other entities vary by degree. That is the fundamental difference, whether the entities involved are incarnate (in a physical body) or discarnate (not in a physical body).
The internal frequency of a radio receiver determines which transmitters it will pick up, and the directional antenna of a television set further aligns its reception to a particular station. The analogy is suitable–the difference between prayer, mediumship and sorcery is in the tuning of the receiver.
To receive messages from God, tune yourself up toward the top of this spectrum. Moment by moment, whether your real purpose is to give or to get, to serve or be served, is the pivot-point on which your spiritual direction turns upward or down.
To decide which level of the spiritual spectrum a message is coming from, look for the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Thus, by their fruit, we can know who speaks for God and who does not (Matthew 7:15-20).
Use the sword of truth to help lead you to Gods will for your life.
Lets review some truths:
- You are an incarnate spirit choosing to communicate with discarnate spirits for this help.
- You live in a world of sin. You need to repent for your sins and continue to do so..
- You have accepted that Jesus Christ was of The Father and sent from the Father. He lived in the flesh on earth and sacrificed his life for your atonement.
- Jesus Christ now lives in “The Light” and provides for your salvation.
1 John 4 King James Version (KJV)
4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
What a valuable piece of knowledge.
Example: You have learned to listen, you are enjoying the wisdom and knowledge, but is it coming from the correct source. a simple prayer will satisfy this. ie. “do you confess that Jesus Christ came to earth in the flesh?” An affirmative answer and your in communication. A negative answer or no answer and you demand that spirit leave in the name of Jesus Christ.
Summary:
We are here and we will be here when you are Ready To Listen. We understand the world you live in and the battles you face. Jesus Christ loves you and wants to have an intimate relationship with you. Prayer, study and service. Blessings
