Jesus a Shaman, I think not

Could be, the serpent is at work again, selling the same song in a different time.

The writing below was sent to me from My Daughter, a highly intelligent girl with a high sense of spiritual perception.

 For your contemplative practice:

“Jesus said: The person who drinks from my mouth will become like me, and I will become that person. The hidden things will be revealed.” ~Gospel of Thomas, 108

Miracles” are natural phenomena occurring in energy at higher rates of vibration, energy levels which physicists have simply not yet mathematically described. When we say “vibrations of energy,” what is the energy that vibrates? It isn’t any “God particle,” any “thing” that could ever be perceived by Consciousness, because it is Consciousness itself.

Our culture will be transformed, and the curriculum we teach our children in schools will be utterly changed, when physicists finally learn to include Consciousness in the equations they use to describe the world. Until then, the masses of humanity, including the majority of so-called “intellectuals,” will continue to suffer the delusion that the material world is somehow separate from the one who perceives it, and the object is separate from the subject.

All great spiritual traditions share this in common: at their root is a methodology of meditation that infuses more and more Consciousness into every atom of the nervous system, for these atoms are in fact atoms of Consciousness. This method of meditation is not an out-of-body experience, but a hyper-embodied experience, penetrating and finally dissolving the duality, without denying its appearance.

We say, “without denying the appearance,” because, while there is only One, the Many appear in the effulgence of the One. Unity bubbles over as diversity, while remaining One. There is only Consciousness, but it manifests as Subject and Object. Those who try to erase the appearance and live “as though” all is the same, get trapped in an ignorance even deeper than those who live in duality.

The truly “enlightened” are not those who deny the appearance, but those who know how to dance as Two while remaining at rest in One. They are not just teachers, they are shamans, who actually do what they teach. They dwell in the world, but not of the world. And for the greater good of all sentient creatures, they work with illusions, masks, and appearances, without being trapped by them.

Jesus was a master Shaman. He changed water into wine, multiplied loaves, and resurrected the body. Whether you take these “miracles” as real or symbolic, you arrive at the same truth about the world. And Jesus was not alone.

Those like him have walked among us too. Spiritually, they are elder brothers and sisters, not “masters.” They irradiate the ordinary with extraordinary power, and illuminate the shadowed world of forms with the formless light of the Self. We may praise and revere them as Other. But their timeless message is always the same: “Do not worship me. Do not believe in me. Become what I Am.”

Ok, so this was sent to me to contemplate.  Definition:

Contemplation

Whilst in the life of the intellect ‘contemplation’ refers to thinking profoundly about something, in the religious life contemplation is a kind of inner vision or seeing, transcendent of the intellect, facilitated by means of practices such as prayer or meditation. Wikipedia

With the definition in mind, I went to prayer and asked if the Holy Spirit would help with my contemplation.  Here is what comes to mind:

  1.  Who is the author?
  2. What is the author’s purpose?
  3. Much of the content seems familiar.  Where have I seen this before?

Who is the author?

The writing did not come with any credit of authorship, I suspect it might not be important as who because many have influenced the writing and much of the thoughts seem like some thoughts in other non-Christian spiritual pursuits.

What the spirit enlightened me on was not on the human author, but more on the spiritual influence on the human author.

What is the purpose of the writing?

At first glance it appears to be a writing glorifying Jesus, however I soon realized that is not the case.   It starts with a text from ‘Thomas ??” from scrolls discovered in Egypt in 1947.  This Thomas is not the “Doubting Thomas” whom most of us are familiar with.  In either case the words could have been those of Jesus.  Jesus made It clear to his disciples that we could            become the body of Christ.  We would live in Jesus and Jesus would live in us; however, Jesus would be the head of that body.

Parts of the writing are pertinent to faith and belief, i.e.,> The truly “enlightened” are not those who deny the appearance, but those who know how to dance as Two while remaining at rest in One.

This living in the flesh, but not being of the flesh is a balancing act for all spiritually based citizens.  As a Christian, The Holy Spirit helps us maintain the balance while staying on the path to righteousness.  I am not so naïve as to not realize there are many other spirits at work.  Jesus and the Bible have made it noticeably clear to stay clear of diviners, magicians, illusionist, and others that simply work to lower your obedience to God, destroy your joy and confuse and disorganize your life.

Now let’s discuss this statement, Jesus was a master Shaman”.  On the surface, this appears to be complimentary toward Jesus.  But this statement is an attempt to lower the holiness of Jesus to that of other Worldly magicians.  Let us examine.

Jesus was/is “the Messiah” which prophets; from the Bible forecasted would come at the particular time of his coming and he fulfilled every statement described by the prophets in the Old Testament of The Bible.  We are talking about thousands of years of prophecy.  Name another whose appearance was forecasted as much and as accurately as Jesus.

Jesus willingly went to “The Cross” to save mankind and offer a means of salvation.  Name another.

Jesus predicted his message would grow around the world and it has.  Not all on good receptive soil, but the seed has been sown. Name another

Jesus claimed to be “The Son of The God of Israel”.   When one reads and studies the entire Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit, it becomes noticeably clear who Jesus is, what his message is and what the ending is.  Name another with a complete story of the beginning, the middle, and an end.

Yeshua (Jesus) is in no way a shaman, magician, or diviner yet he had/has all the powers of them and much, much more.  Jesus is the son of God and the essence of God.

The last sentence of the writing is:     But their timeless message is always the same: “Do not worship me. Do not believe in me. Become what I Am.”    This could be the message of shamans, magicians, and diviners, but certainly was not the message of Jesus.  Jesus’ message was to preach the good news about the Kingdom of God.  That Kingdom is the Reign, rule, and realm of God.   True, we all have the potential to be “Sons and daughters of God”, but without a doubt one must have faith in and belief in Jesus to move toward service with God.

Some of this content is familiar, have we seen it before?

In the biblical account of the Fall, we are told that Satan promised Eve that she would become as God, knowing good from evil, if she ate the fruit from the forbidden tree.

Many say “that is just a fable” or what a grand miraculous story.  Many have attempted to discredit this inspired story written in Hebrew around 600 bc.  Yet what seems to add credit to the story is its reappearance over the ages.  It seems clear that spiritual forces keep using pride and vanity to tempt people away from their God and Jesus Christ.

God loves all his creation yet allows free will.

Yes, there is a Master Shaman at work in this world.  A magician(s) full of tricks, inuendo, illusions and temptations.  Only with the Holy Spirit can we avoid the pitfalls of this master illusionist.  Only with faith in Jesus Christ may we gain the Holy Spirit and the spiritual help needed.

Love conquers all.
